The South Carolina Algebra Project (SCAP) The South Carolina Algebra Project is a statewide, comprehensive initiative that provides educators with support, professional development, and resources focused on improving student performance in Algebra I.

The SCAP currently involves 73 middle and high school teachers from 14 districts. These teachers come from 13 high schools and 6 middle schools.

The goal of the South Carolina Algebra Project is to increase student achievement in mathematics by increasing the capacity of teachers

  • to use effective instructional strategies,
  • to use their understanding of what students know to make and modify instructional decisions, and
  • to continuously reflect on their practice.
