A Message from the Coordinator Welcome to the Mathematics and Science Unit at MYSCMSU. This new Web site will provide you with quick access to the latest information related to mathematics and science in the South Carolina public schools as viewed from the perspective of the Mathematics and Science Unit of the South Carolina Department of Education. All Web sites should be viewed as “under construction” because they grow and change in order to meet the needs of their audiences. Our intended audience includes all South Carolina teachers who teach mathematics and science or who are interested in mathematics and science. We are very interested in hearing from you with suggestions of how to make this Web site more responsive to your interests and needs. Since this is the opening of the MYSCMSU site, you might be curious as to who we are, our mission, and some of the things that we do. The following should help you orient yourself as you browse our new site. Who We AreThe Mathematics and Science Unit is part of the Office of Curriculum and Standards. Our Director is Dr. Helena Tillar. Our Division is Curriculum Services and Assessment which is led by Teri Siskind, Interim Deputy Superintendent. Our MissionThe Mathematics and Science Unit is charged with providing statewide leadership and services to schools and districts to ensure implementation of grade-level standards-based instruction for all students in mathematics and in science.
