  • Are accessible to teachers and students in a timely and equitable manner.
  • Are maintained in a read to teach order.

CONTEXT

Environment for Instructional Materials Support

  • A plan exists for acquiring, maintaining and supporting the use of instructional materials.
  • A consistent and reliable support system for all instructional materials ( kits, manipulatives, specialized science and mathematics equipment, live organisms, technology tools, etc.) is in place.
  • Teachers have the background knowledge and skills needed to effectively use and maintain instructional materials.

PROCESS

Support System Considerations

  • Instructional materials have been identified, inventoried and aligned to the curriculum.
  • An inventory of available instructional materials is accessible to teachers.
  • An adequate supply of instructional materials is available to teachers.
  • Teachers understand the procedures for obtaining and using instructional materials as well as what to do with the materials when their instruction is completed.
  • Assistance is available to teachers who have questions about the use of instructional materials including those that require specialized handling.
  • Instructional materials support procedures minimize the time and effort required by the classroom teacher to use quality hands-on materials.
  • Instructional materials support system is consistent, reliable and cost-effective.
